Thanks for opening this thread.. Good One. I hate when people attach such things. When I visit India, all these 20-somethings call me aunty - you are kidding me, right!!! Just becoz someone is just few years younger - Aarrrgghhh! Don't worry, life comes a full circle - someone will call him uncle much to his chagrin one day

Why do people want to scare you the moment you say you are going back to India for good?
I know I know... all those realities of India and it isn't going to be Rosy bed any ways.
I even told them that , let me try for one year and I don't want to repent for rest of my life for not at least giving it a try.
You then have to face the sarcasm- So if you are going to come back in one year, why are you going? You lived in US for a decade and you think you will like India? It's not that you work exact hours and wind up on time.
Well I know, what can I do? Do you want me to sit and bitch around OR take bold step knowing all the odds?
Every other person is talking behind us that we are going to come back to USA in one year, husband and wife are betting each other:(

Every other person is talking behind us that we are going to come back to USA in one year, husband and wife are betting each other:( Going back to India is not an easy decision to make. Kudos for taking the decision. Having returned back to India recently, I find it that it's the best thing that could have happened in a long time. My parents live nearby us and it's a great sight to see my kid discussing Cricket with his grand dad every match (it's another matter that the Cricket Set which he got from his grand dad took care of couple of his medicine bottles while playing inside the house). Of course, life is not a bed of roses in India but then kids become more stronger when they have to compete for things. The sarcasm is more due to the fact that someone else is doing what they are not able to do or will not be able to do.

Reviewer, good post. I agree with what you say. For most, returning to India is always an impossible task if husband and wife are never on same page and most couples aren't on this issue; if husband wants to return , wife is reluctant and viceversa. So their negative comments are reflections of what they can't do.

Feeling extremely tired at workplace deadlines and off work obligations. Was just waiting for this weekend to arrive.
I hope they make 4 day weekends for west coast folks : ( as the work culture is becoming extremely hectic here these days.

Hope things get better for you at workplace.. I understand how tough things get, at times. Almost all my friends are going through the same pain - is it due to the added stress of economy and cutbacks, etc.?
Hang in there. And have lots of fun this weekend :-)

Actually economy is picking up but still the work culture is becoming more stressful in east or west or any part of US. Partly due to the worker's mentality themselves and partly due to the pressure of losing jobs. One colleague from my India is here for short term training and said that MNCs in India especially the product companies have it easier than here or is it the 'grass is green on other side ' ?

I am so furious with my sis-in-law and her digs! Why can't people mind their own business? To top that, all my in-laws will join together and add all sarcastic comments to that. I really hold myself back to prevent creating a scene. But, what pleasure does it give to these people! Don't they have anything better to do in their lives!

I was busy in work all of last week and part of this week and today our BU's head dropped a bomb that the product that we worked so hard in demonstrating will undergo serious re-org and possibly face cuts. I really am at cross roads. I am occupied at personal front with travel coming in less than 10 days and this news has put me in serious retrospection phase to see should I continue with the current job or not. If I need to move, I will lose 3 weeks of precious time and if I stay, I will not be part of any planning.

IPLrocks - Sorry to hear about it. May be things will change after the initial period of the launch. Is there a chance that you might work for a different BU in the same organization?
Hang in there!

Less than few hours for a major travel and I hit anxiety. I face this travel phobia everytime I travel. How to overcome this?
