A movie from 1975 still leaves you spellbound. Time and again it's played on various TV movie channels (currently it's on Zee Cinema ).
It's a simple story line with a retired Police Officer (Sanjeev Kumar) hiring two local goons (Veeru -- Dharmendra and Jai - Amitabh Bachchan) to take revenge on his enemy (Gabbar Singh -- Amjad Khan).
There have been comments about the faulty screenplay from some quarters. This has to do with everyone knowing where Gabbar is but the police cannot find him. Even in reality, it happened with Veerapan in Karnataka. Almost everyone could meet him in the forest but the Police couldn't find him .
What stands out is the performance of Sanjeev Kumar. This particular scene is well done
As for Amjad Khan as Gabbar Singh, what more one can ask in a debut film.
Who can forget the dialogues from the movie after all this years.
Tumara Naam Kya Hai Basanti
Kitne Admi The?.
Ae Haath Muche Dethe Thakur.
When a person like Satyajit Ray likes the movie (http://movies.rediff.com/column/2010/may/19/aseem-chhabra-salutes-macmohan.htm), it must be one of the well made films in the history of Mainstream Indian Cinema.
