Places to Visit: TalaCauvery:
It is the birthplace of River Cauvery. A small water tank has been constructed at the point of origin. There is also a temple build at the spot where regular puja rituals are done. Raja's Seat:
This is a small square mantapa in brick and mortar of four pillars bridged by arches, enhanced by beautiful surroundings. The Madikeri fort, with its imposing structure crowns the entire town, was rebuilt by Tipu Sulthan. The Madikeri palace is located inside the fort and was built by the Lingarajendra Wodeyar II. The British renovated the structure twice and in 1933 added a clock tower and a portico. Cauvery Nisargadhama:

I would recommend travelling by Bus as the best means of transport. Anyway, I have listed the options below.
By Bus Madikeri is well connected by KSRTC buses of Kerala and Karnataka.
By Air Nearest airport to Madikeri is Mangalore terminal, which is about 136 km from Madikeri. Taxi charge for the travel from Mangalore to Madikeri is about Rs 2500. Nearest International airport is Karipur (Kozhikode), which is 180 km away from Madikeri. It cost around Rs 3500 from Madikeri to Karipur. Karipur airport is connected to many Arab cities. Mangalore air terminal is connected to Bangalore and Chennai.
By Train The nearest railway stations are Hassan, Thalassery, Kannur and Kasrgod, all are nearly 115 km away from Madikeri.

About weather, I think, it is best to travel from October to April to avoid the Monsoon.

In Karnataka, this place is also called Kodagu. The language spoken in this part is kodavaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodava_languageDifference in language should not be a big issue for site seeing but something to keep in mind that Kannada is not widely spoken language here.
