IPL-4 ended with CSK winning and I saw an article that how it is losing its brand appeal quickly in less than 4 seasons. IPL, its brand name and sustainability seem like an oxymoron seeing how this site is visited by one or two members on every day basis Or maybe they were busy with DLF-IPL cricket and now will be back here

Politics among members in discussion boards do you like it ?
It becomes an ego trip for few if politics among members is allowed to thrive. When it's small, it should be killed else later it becomes too toxic.
What do you all think?

Most of us are busy with our own lives but some folks(who have nothing much to do) in a virtual world get a sense of achievement when they get a feel that you've been proved wrong. Life is too short to deal with all these nonsense. We have enough problems to face in our day to day lives.

Tara, Agree with you. It's hard not to get hurt when some people come behind your posts intentionally again and again or when your posts are twisted for no reason. I usually stay away from boards that encourage or do nothing about such behavior but it's hard to build the rapport in new boards.

I usually stay away from boards that encourage or do nothing about such behavior but it's hard to build the rapport in new boards. These kind of things might increase the TRP ratings and bring in revenue to the boards. (more no of hits etc). The concerned personnel might not do anything as they would first look from a revenue perspective.

No matter how one thinks that they are handling it in a professional or business like manner - most of the debates I have seen are just cut-throat. It is not about the discussion, but it is about winning an argument, by hook or crook. So, the feelings will be hurt - it is very tough to take that out of the equation. Oh come on, we belong to the clan where Kamal fans and Rajni fans fight with each other when their idols utter something onscreen as a movie character!! And we try to pretend that we are all above that - who are we kidding?? Everything is about ego - The ego is such a subtle thing that it is hard to perceive and one always believes unfortunately that they are above it. Reminds me of a short story from Chandamama .. A woman goes around asking everyone in the village - "Why do people get angry? why do they fight?" .. Everyone applaud her for being so naive and innocent - and for being such a good person that she is so unaware of what animosity is? Then a sadhu comes by her home and she asks him the same question - he just ignores it and says "Gimme some food"... Thinking that may be he did not understand her question, she repeats it - the sadhu again ignores her question and this time a little bit irritated, asks for food a bit harshly. The women is offended and she gets upset with the Sadhu. The Sadhu then explains to her that "See, it is ego, ma'am, that is root cause of all animosity. If one does not give importance to ego, there may be disagreements but not fights and harsh arguments." Ok guys, that is the story of the day .. catch ya all later

Good story. Ego is good for creators like Steve Jobs, Larry Page as only with ego they built the products people love but harmful for minnows like us
