My kids were behind us for a pet which is a big NO NO for us, parents. After some time we all agreed for a small fish in fish-tank as a pet. The very first reaction of my 3.5 year old after we brought fish was "Fish don't have BUTT"

The other day, during Shivaratri festival celebration, I was trying to explain my daughter that Shiva has a third eye in his forehead and when he opens that some disaster(as in earthquake) can happen to the world. After a while she replied that ,"OK I see now , why we are having so many earthquakes around the world nowadays, he is opening his forehead eye a lot. He is meany, doesn't care for people

My kid was in deep thoughts.
After some time of pin drop silence and her lost-some-where kind of status, I couldn't resist asking her that, "Honey what are you thinking"?
She: You know what mamma? YOU and DADDY will become ancestors for my grand kids:)

You'll never hear your neighbor complaining about the noise nor do you have to take them for a walk

Not a cute comment but was deeply touched by the maturity of my daughter.
We are calling back and forth to India since my dad is sick. My daughter understood that her grandpa is really sick and he has taken to hospital.
She: Mom, why are you sad? Me: You know grandpa is not feeling good and he is really having lot of pain. She. I know mom. You must be feeling terribly bad, right? Me: Just nodded my head.
After few minutes she replied, Mom every living thing on the earth has to come to an end. Then why is not you or grandpa realizing it?
I was bit taken aback by her comments initially but also felt proud about her.
I explained her that even though we know the reality, it is our duty to make every effort to see if they can get well. You can't just ignore thinking that we all will die one day anyway.
She seem to be convinced, I hope so....

I make it a point to my daughter to finish the entire water bottle that she take it to the school. One day she comes from half day school and says, Look mama, it's half day and hence finisihed only half bottle of water!

Yesterday, I opened a new toy for our 2 yr old son, a bulldozer. He was waiting impatiently for me to take it out of the box and as soon as I opened it, he took it away and said "Bha Bye" (His way of saying to leave him and his toy alone).

I had got couple of trains for my son (as Santa's gift) for Christmas. Asked him, now that you have got your wish from Santa, what should I write to him. He said "You should write to Santa for a better office" . Hope his wish comes true in 2012.
