Thread starter for debates that always end with status-quo  SAHMs or WMs which option is better ? |

Before women here deep dive into the discussion, I wanted to ask this. One of my friends is SAHM (Stay at Home mom). She and I have friendly debates once in a while that which option is better , being SAHM or WM By the time debate ends, we are nursing our wounds for couple of days and then we patch up till the next debate comes as we each think our POV is more valid than the other But one statement she makes to her friends in front of us very frequently is SAHMs are way more gorgeous than WMs. Is there any truth to that ? Some of the SAHMs I see in parks/playgrounds have ill fitting jeans, or in sweat pants or ancient looking Indian Chudidars; Similar percentage is applicable to WMs as well. All of them are good looking in their own way but atleast I have not come across 'way more gorgeous' SAHMs than WMs in my experience. In parties or get togethers, all dress well and look good, so there is no easy way to distinguish unless the talk turns to work Is there truth to her statement or she is way off the mark in her generalization? Another thing working or not working to earn is an individual choice like many choices in life ( to have 1 kid or 2 kids or to buy house or not to buy house and so on) but why women get defensive when this topic is discussed ? Deep inside, we always want to have what other one is having, so do we get defensive because of that? |

From a guy's perspective, SAHM is a better option than WM *IF* the kids are young (<5). Kids need the most attention between 0-5 and it really helps when the mom is at home to take care of them and raise them the way the parents wanted them to.
However, circumstances don't always work in that favor and the need for the mom to work is unavoidable.

Husbands love WM during work hours and SAHM after the work hours ;D

When kids are young SAHMs are sympathetic towards WM saying - must be difficult to manage kids and office. WM are sympathetic towards SAHMs that in office sometimes we can have the restroom / coffee break visits at our will. Where are that will is controlled by kids for SAHM. So my experience has been that SAHM and WM have mutually caring and empathetic behavior towards other. |
