Over years, you will receive complements from your wife(husband), MIL, FIL, Family friends or kids... Which ones you cherish the most? Which ones will cheer you up to look forward for another day.. Not a bheja fry topic but just to share good stuff

I like this thread.. It is nice to think over such pleasant moments in life and reminisce on it . My husband and I have been friends for several years before getting married. But never once had he ever said anything, forget about compliments :-) , about how I look or or my dress. On the day of our Engagement, I was all glamed up with jewels and traditional saree, etc. My husband/then-fiance was supposed to lead our family to the place where engagement was being held, along with his brother. Somehow, in a small gap, between his brother parking his vehicle and his family welcoming our party, he came back and said, "chala baaggunavu" (you look very good :-) ) - and went back to join his party, leaving me all blushing That was the most heartfelt compliment I have ever had.

Wow, Anu that was really nice. My MIL said once that "xxx(my spouse) must have done lot of good work in his previous life to get a wife like me in this life" in front of gathering of 50 family members. That is one comment I cherish a lot and forgave lot of her other occasional remarks on my housekeeping when only 2 of us were present ! I remember one incident: I did not have a formal training in cooking and she was guiding me to prepare something. She was telling that how she is very neat/methodical and never had to clean on spills etc and I was boiling milk and made the milk to spill in front of her. Then I burnt the dish she was guiding me to prepare and then while taking out the spilled milk container from burner, accidentally dropped hot milk on her foot in hurry. She was very sportive and she said to do slow and learn than getting nervous in front of her as she finds me very eager to learn . This nice gesture I remember even after decades.

That is so sweet. It really feels good when MIL passes a compliment, esp. in front of others. I liked it. Thanks for sharing.

While you gals are talking about MIL, it reminds me of my own. I and my MIL are very different. Rather poles apart. One day she said while talking to her son that never ever 'I' as DIL has ever demanded her to do any work in house. Not have I ever questioned for what she has done.
Basically she has had a free hand whether to do or to not to do. Kind of feels good to know that given our so different temperaments.

I love my In-laws and have a very good rapport with my Mil and Bils.
During one small function in my in-laws place, I was not able to attend. And I was told that my MIL told everyone: "if my younger DIL was here, this whole house would have been bubbling with joy and fun. Without her, this event is so quiet". It felt good knowing that my MIL likes all the silly things I do and play around :-)
