Does anyone know how long does it take for a US Dollar cheque to be cleared in India?. Some say it's 1 week, 1 month and 45 days.

I have done this in the past with SBM(State Bank of Mysore) and it took about a month. This was 2-3 years ago and the branch office where my parents deposited my signed check was in Tier 3 kind of city.
One week seem to be not realistic though.
