One of my distant cousin is in his 3rd year of H1-B. He works for JPMC and the company has not started his GC process still. He has MBA from US university and has completed all 3 levels of CFA. Should he leave his current company and start the process elsewhere or stay with the current company and file for EB-2? CFA is a rare thing as only 50,000 people in US have this certification. Can he claim EB-1 based on this?
He is in Texas. How long does it take to get GC (LC, I140 and I485) if he stays in Texas and goes the EB-2 route?

GC is not based on level of education. Its based on the job requirement. If the job requires an MBA or a professional degree *and* a certain number of years as experience then EB2 might be a good option. I know of several friends who have a masters but are still in EB3 as their job requirements just asked for a bachelor's degree. Having said that, CFA, a professional certification, does not put th person under EB1. EB1 is strictly for outstanding people such as scientists or docs or somebody who is very valuable to the economy through special interests etc. In my estimate, if you cousins goes through the EB2 process, chances are he/she might get GC in about 3-4 year's time.
