Asia's biggest business of fashion event, the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), is back for the season. The Autumn Winter 2011 edition will witness participation from 141 designers, including an unprecedented 77 on the runways with their trend casting. The five day event is from April 6-10, 2011.
I will try to post some selected collections and my opinion on the same. Letz discuss about it and have fun, galz.

Tarun Tahliani's collection had severe Chinese undertone - is this way of welcoming the Chinese Overlords? J/K folks. Click here to see Tarun's collectionOf the entire collection, the only one I liked was the one below. I liked the simplicity of the fabric and the brocade jacket - very eyecatchy.. I liked it. Rest were very bleh..

From Day 1 set of designers, I was very impressed with Rehane's work.. Though they were all mini dresses, loved the color palette and bold designs. Click here for Rehane's Peacock Shade collectionI fell in love with several dresses in this collection. Other than the length factor, the dresses are so wearable on a day-to-day basis.. Here are some of my favs: Source for pics: Yahoo Lifestyle

OMG, who wears these dresses in real life other than the models themselves ( they also might not only if they don't get it free )

OMG, who wears these dresses in real life other than the models themselves ( they also might not only if they don't get it free ) May be they gauze the response and then manufacture in bulk based on interest? I watch Lakme week in India and some collections are nice. Will post the next event's pics if I get a chance.

Actually, there were several occasions where celebrities wear dresses off the runway - at times even before it is showcased. In some cases, the dresses are slightly altered to fit the body type of the celebrities.

Just as we are speaking, here is an example of what I was talking about.. Nisha Singh is supposed to be wearing an altered version of Kavita Bhartia's Latest collection showcased in WIFW. Hate the Leggings - would have preferred to have the same version as what the model is wearing. Source: Highheelconfidential.com

Thanks for bringing this up - I was not aware that the fashion week started. As usual, I cant stand Manish Malhotra... If he has a "brainstorm" design, then he will use the same in all his designs.. I am so tired of seeing the thick border element with a velvet material. Arrey, what is his fascination with Velvet in the first place.. Hasnt he dressed Kareena and Anushka Sharma with enough Velvet embroidered, Velvet Bordered salwars and sarees!! Fortunately, in this collection, the velvet took a backseat but that border patchwork made an advent even into Men's wear!! Do you see the pattern (pun intended ) : This is Manish Malhotra's salwar Kareena wore for Saif's PadmaShri awards function on Apr 7, 2010And these are his WIFW Collection presented yesterday!! For almost a year, he has been recycling his designs :-) MM's design on Neetu Singh for WIFW: Source: hamaraphotos.com

Anu, You really are resourceful. Kareena is approaching 31. Why is she still waiting to get married to Chota Nawab ? OTOH her chachi Neetu Singh still looks great . Isn't she in her mid 50's now ?
