Motels near US Consulate, New Delhi

Could someone help me find accommodation near US Consulate at Delhi.

We approached the Tourism center at the Airport and they were very helpful in finding accommodation.

We stayed at Hotel Megha Sheraton, Old Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi. I was a simple motel but it had internet connection. Room service food was not bad. It is located 10 mins away from consulate and 20 mins from airport. We picked a place closer to US consulate(Chanakyapuri) to avoid tension on the day of interview. The motel also has a taxi service that we can avail if in need - it is a tad bit expensive. You will find several autos if you just walk few mins away from the motel.

The motel is located in a very populated place surrounded by grocery stores and restaurants. After the interview, we spent lots of time shopping in the market nearby. Karol Bagh is right around the corner. It has a huge shopping market.

If you dont mind, could you please tell me how much the accommodation costs? Is it very expensive?

I dont remember exactly - But I think, it was around Rs. 1500 per day. You may be able to get a better rate if you go directly. We were told that since it was through the Tourism dept, our price included their commission as well.

But, without the help of Tourism dept and not being aware of current rates, we would got ripped off as tourist as well. Now that we know the motel and the rates to expect, we are in a better position to go directly to the motel and bargain with the rates :-)
