It is located in Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu. It is 180 Km from Bangalore and 46 Kms from Dharmapuri. At Hogenakkal, the Kaveri drops and creates numerous waterfalls as the water cuts through the rocky terrain. In places the water falls as much as 20 m and is said to sound like continual thunder. My favorite experience is boating in the river And then the fish fried fresh and served on the banks! Never miss these experiences. It is recommended to stay at Dharmapuri and visit Hogenakkal. The best time to visit is between June and October when there is lots of water. From Chennai, it is a 4-5 hr drive. Avoid staying in Hogenakal after it gets dark, as the facilities are very less and lights are almost nil. A tidbit: This is the same location, movie Raavan was picturised.

First picture is beautiful !!!
We have visited Hogenkal falls twice and both the times, the water was really muddy. Even the place to stand and view the falls was so slippery that we were more keen on balancing than enjoying the view to avoid falling!
Which season is best for visiting to see white falls (shown in the first post) than muddy colored ?
