There have been rumours/pressure from long time that Sachin Tendulkar be given country's biggest and most honorable award Bharata Ratna.
Now that India won world cup, this is resurfacing. The current Indian captain, everyones pet Dhoni is repeating this now.
What do you all think?
Does Sachin deserve it? If Yes why? If No, why? Are we becoming too partial? Who are others(like Dhoni, politicians) to recommend Bharata Ratna award? What are the norms followed in selection?

Tara, looks like you either don't know much about cricket or don't like Sachin. He is one of the BEST player the cricket world has seen, let alone India.
He definitely deserve Bharata Ratna award.

I think Sachin deserves it, If billion people are praying for you to win a world cup and are willing to stop whatever they are doing just to watch you bat, then you already are a Bharat ratna. Award is just a formality.

Sachin should have got it earlier or should get it later. If he gets it now, it will be awarded by Grandma Prathibha Patil. That's not an award, that's an insult If Sachin had got it from the hands of Dr. Kalam, it would have been a proud moment for all us. If at all he gets it from the Grandma, he should add that to one of his low moments in life (Barbados test, 2007 World Cup).
