The temperature in nearing 60s F. Bright sunny afternoon...but mood is to go and sleep for that heavanly afternoon nap. But if I don't tie the shoe laces now, then one more day is gone! Shall I do now? Or later after few minutes? Thud came the answer....stop thinking and just DO IT!!!! In my pistal pink band new track suit I started off running. I had chosen the distance as my reference. I have a definite 5K ie 3 Miles distance. So I usually start running as much as I can and then take a small walking break as many times as I really need. When I had started, my initial stats were almost 50 plus minutes to cover 5K distance with jog + walk. Last time I participated in 5K run last september I covered it in 34 minutes. Again as I ran today looks like my stat needs little more improvement. I ran 5K today in about 36 minutes with 1 walking break in between. I think the more I run the better I would get.

Dear friends....please do step forward and post some updates. Even if it is - I could not do. Believe me....after posting 1,2, 3 times...automatically you will start working out to post - I did it!
And most importantly my updates are not to intimidate the other members. I just hope others also would catch up soon.
And as I mentioned...this is not a competition...but a group activity. So please do not hesitate and do post some updates.

My second day of fast walk/run combination.. 45 minutes.. I think I touched 5K.. but will measure tomorrow. I just needed to get out and shake myself out today!! It was gooooood.. I think that we comfort ourselves too much sometimes.. and give our body too much rest.. When we push it sometimes, its amazing to realize what all it can cope with.. Same with exercise too... THe key is consistency.. which I still lack in.. Well then.. so far.. .. Just get up.. and do it. rest will happen automatically..

Friends, I am not a fitness freak, but try to keep myself fit by engaging in different outdoor activities. For example once or twice a week I play soccer with my family. That involves running with the ball, kicking and dribbling etc. Sometimes we go for the long walks. Now as the things are getting warmer I regularly go for jogging with my husband for around 45 minutes. It is good idea to have a companion with you when you are running. It takes out the feeling of boredom that you are running alone. Once jogging is done I do some simple free hand exercises like stretching, sit ups etc. Now the time is getting closer so we will have to push a little harder to make it a success.

Ya Spurthi, playing soccer is fun and way to burn calories, especially when your family also enjoys to play the game. infact I don't miss any other outdoor playing opportunities. Today I jogged and excercised for an hour and hoping of everybody is doing the same.

I have ran 5 kms 2 or 3 times at the slow pace this past week. It took me around 50 mins to finish, i think that is the fastest I can get at running a 5 k. I feel pretty accomplished(:
