I used to be very superstitious but I'm trying to break this annoying trait. Superstitions like using right hand for anything important or using the right leg to enter into something good is something that I'm trying hard to get out off. Or are they just beliefs? Either way, there's something fundamentally wrong in our belief system.

I am superstitious only on sports related events and especially when my beloved team or team I am rooting/players are playing Whenever I let my guard down convincing myself that it doesn't matter and watch the complete game/match, then my team/player loses. As I am getting older, this superstition is increasing : ) Religion and culture related superstitions, I have overcome long ago!!

I used to believe that Green color was my lucky color.. I almost had 11-12 salwars in my college days in different shades of Green and during my exam days, it is definitely one from that collection. There was no way, I would start anything on Ashtami - have had several things stop without completion as I started doing on Ashtami. My mom used to tell that my grandma had lots of problems in her life after she got a Blue Sapphire necklace set (Blue is Shani's color) - So, from then on, I am so scared of Sapphire. Though I love the color, I would dare not buy any jewelery with Sapphire in it.

Egzhkuseee me!! Helllo, just because your beliefs are different from others, it does not make it BS. There is a reason for everything - May be Sapphire worked for you. It may not work for everyone. There is science behind vibrations emitted by stones, days, moon, planets, etc. And Whitecloud, there is a reason for preferring right hand - if you remind yourself of what the left hand is used!! It is more for hygienic reason! It is not just our belief system that has superstitions. How about one from western world: If you apply an ointment with the forefinger of the right hand the sore will not heal. This is because this finger is said to be the ‘poison’ finger.www.anythinglefthanded.co.uk/lh-info/myths.html

I am on the fence about this - but isnt it bad omen to stand on threshold ;-)
If it is something that I can follow without hurting anyone (like say using Right foot),I would follow it rather than questioning. But if it is something like not allowing my aunt to take part in an auspicious event 'coz she lost her husband, I'll put my foot down and make sure that she participates.
